In conjunction with the publication of my book, Forgotten Wisdom, A Search for the Lost Art of Happiness, I am running these one day humorous workshops to rethink your life with joy and wisdom. Venue: The East Melbourne Library 122 George St, E. Melb.
Dates: 21st June 2009 Bookings Closed 5th July 2009 Bookings Closed 13thSept 2009 27th Sep 2009
Outline: Each one-day workshop consists of four 11/4 hr sessions. The success of the workshop relies on the fact that we don't discuss individual problems but life in general and numbers are limited. I do not ask what you do, if you are married or have children or any other question that, supposedly, defines us. We pool our wisdom and break down the dull stereotypes for women (and men too if they are game) of all ages. As a result the discussions are fascinating and we laugh a lot.
Session 1: Offload In this session we’ll offload some worries, assorted stresses and even some annoying people in our lives and have some fun doing it. This is not group therapy. No one is made to reveal all. I use techniques that allow the topics to bubble up into group exercises so that you learn how to apply a variety of techniques that will not only give you insight into your emotions but also show you the direction you will need to take to dump anxiety and stress and revitalise your attitude to life.
Session 2: RethinkWhat makes you happy? It is a simple question, but often our ideas about happiness are dictated by others. In this session you will work through some exercises that will help you to rethink the meaning of happiness for you. Moreover, you don’t have to wait until you win a lottery to be happy. The aim of this workshop is to show you how it is possible to be happy now.
Session 3: ExpandThis session is a celebration of difference. We in the West like to think of ourselves as individuals. Yet we can spend an extraordinary amount of time looking at others lives and thinking ‘I want to be like that’. Exercises in this session, both humorous and thoughtful, will help you affirm your own individuality. You will discover both joy and freedom in this planned escape from the stereotype. Only when you embrace your individuality can you be happy as the pathway to happiness must be your own.
Session 4: CreateHaving gone through the process of off-loading, rethinking and expanding, now you can try a more creative approach to life. We’ll look at creative solutions to old problems and tackle some simple, but effective exercises designed to challenge your own perceptions of yourself. Moreover, to gain a sense of renewal you must do something new, but these exercises involve a lot of fun so that you will leave this session laughing and full of energy. Costs: $200.00 plus $20 GST . Costs include a copy of Kerry Cue’s book Forgotten Wisdom, workshop materials, morning and afternoon tea, light refreshments and a light but yummy lunch.
